Chapters 25–26

Lkc da ya kare waya bai dawo cikin dakin ba yafita, acan dagin da naji shiru yayi yawa ,ga yunwa da nake ji yasa na fito parlour"

When he finished his phone call, he didn't return to the room; he went out. When the quiet in the place became too much, and coupled with the hunger I was feeling, I came out to the parlor.

"koh ina na parlour nate ,parlour ya hadu iya haduwa, idanu na suka sauka saman dining table dinda ke dauke da manya food flask jere,

Everywhere in the parlor was impeccably arranged and stunningly decorated. My eyes landed on the dining table, which held large, neatly lined-up food flasks.

"direct wurin na nufa, saida na bude koh wace food flask, bacci ne kala kala aciki,

I walked straight to it and opened every single food flask—there were various delicious meals inside.

"plate na dauka na serving kaina da pepper soup din kayan ciki dake tururi, a wurin na xauna na cika ciki na,dakin na koma ,toilet na shiga nayi brush, nakara yin wanka"

I grabbed a plate and served myself steaming tripe pepper soup. I sat right there and filled my stomach, then returned to the room, went into the toilet, brushed my teeth, and took another bath.

"turare na fesa a jiki na, na kwanta saman royal bed"

I sprayed perfume on my body and lay down on the royal bed.

"tunani nafara ba wanda nake tunawa sai ya Najib koh wani hali? But nasan yana cikin wani tashin hankali,

I began to think, and the only person on my mind was Ya Najib—what condition is he in? But I knew he must be in deep distress.

"Duk wada xa'ayi sai na kira shi tunda ina da no.sa a brain dina na fada hada wani murguda baki, bayan ta kare nashi tafara na gida,da ire iren wannan tunanin nayi bacci"

"No matter what happens, I will call him since I have his number memorized in my brain," I muttered, twisting my mouth. After thinking about him, my mind drifted to home. With thoughts like these, I fell asleep.

"Sai 9 ya shigo dakin a gajiye, kallo daya yayi wa gadon da nake kwance fuska ya dauke kansa"

Around 9:00 PM, he entered the room looking exhausted. He glanced once at the bed where I was lying and quickly averted his face.

"kayan jiki sa ya cire daya bayan daya ,toilet ya shiga ya sakar ma kansa shower yana furxar da iska mai xafi"

He took off his clothes one by one and went into the bathroom, turning the shower on himself while letting out hot breaths.

"Almost 30 min ya dauka a towel,ya fito daure da towel a west dinsa, turare ka dai ya fesama jiki sa ya xauna bakin gado ya dauki laptop yafara aikin sarrafa ta, sai kusan 11 ya mike ya kashe light din wuta baki daya yabar vaselight kwara daya ta gefe na"

He spent almost 30 minutes, came out wrapped in a towel around his waist, sprayed perfume on his body, and sat at the edge of the bed to work on his laptop. Around 11:00 PM, he stood up and turned off all the lights, leaving only a single bedside lamp on my side.

"saman bed din ya hau,bed dinda na rufa dashi yayi kasa dashi, yar karamar night gown din da ke jiki na gaba daya ta tattare tayi gefe,"

He climbed onto the bed, and the blanket covering me was pulled down. The tiny nightgown I was wearing rolled all the way up to the side.

"cinyoyi na gaba daya waje ba aiki da suke sai sheki,da yake wuyan rigar yana dan girma, breast dina gaba daya sunfi waje"

My thighs were completely bare and glowing, and because the neckline of the gown was a bit wide, my breasts were practically exposed.

"Runtse idon sa yayi yana jin gaba daya he is not d one,lkc daya ya canxa, kumi najiki sa ya mike ,wani abu wanda bai taba ji yake ji na ratsa masa body"

He squeezed his eyes shut, feeling entirely unlike himself. Suddenly, his mood shifted; goosebumps rose all over his skin, and a sensation he had never felt before coursed through his body.

"Hannu sa ya axa saman face dina yana shafawa a hankali, cikin bacci na naji ana shafa min fuska,na dauki hakan as dream,"

He placed his hand on my face, stroking it gently. In my sleep, I felt someone stroking my face and mistook it for a dream.

"inaji dadin yana yin, gaira kwanciya ta nayi na kara shigewa jikin sa,koda ma son jiki nawa ne,balle da naji kan softy body"

Enjoying the feeling, I adjusted my sleeping posture and snuggled further into his body, especially upon feeling his soft physique.

"ya salam yafada lkc da jiki na da nashi ya hadu guri daya, gashi jikin sa ba riga sai towel dinsa da yake daure da shi,Wani shock yaji wanda yasa saida ya cire ni a jikin sa,"

"Ya Salam!" he whispered as our bodies touched, especially since he was shirtless with only a towel tied around his waist. He felt a sudden electric shock that made him pull me away from his body.

"da ba don yana so yaji na ci abinci ba da baxai kara ko karin tada ni ba"

Had it not been for the fact that he wanted to ensure I had eaten, he wouldn't have bothered waking me up again.

"hannu na ya dangi murxawa a hankali yasa na bude eye dina ,wanda suke dauke da bacci na axa masa"

He began rubbing my hand gently, which made me open my sleep-heavy eyes and fix them on him.

"haxbinallah yafada lkc da kwayar idon mu suka tsarkake cikin na juna,,"

"Hasbunallah!" he exclaimed as our gazes locked deeply into one another.

"everything come from dis girl is different, wani abu yaji lkc da idanun su hade wuri daya"

Everything coming from this girl is different, he felt something stir inside him as their eyes met.

"tambayar kansa yayi meyasa a duk lkc da wani abu ya hado shi da ni yake jin wani feeling na daban, nan take kasala ke lullube shi?"

He asked himself why every time something brought him close to me, he felt a completely different kind of feeling, and lethargy would immediately overtake him.

"me yasa a duk lkc da idon su suka hade wuri daya yake jin faduwar gaba da yanayi na daban?"

Why is it that whenever our eyes meet, he feels his heart race and experiences a strange mood?

"Me yasa bayajin wannan abun alkc da nake tare da lubna dz i have much feeling with her?"

Why doesn't he feel this way when he is with Lubna, even though he has strong feelings for her?

"nabla na da duk wani abu ya yar macce ke takama dashi, but why bana jin feeling yadda nake ji da wannan kwaila yarinya, kuma lubna a girme nabla shekara 6 inma batafi,,Wannan da koh kiss nashi baxata iya dauka ba amma yana ji more feeling a kanta"

Nabla has everything a woman can boast of, but why don't I feel the same way with this naive young girl? Lubna is older than Nabla by at least 6 years, yet even though this one can't even endure his kiss, he feels a much deeper intensity of emotion toward her.

"sanin yayi bashi da tambayar ans sa yasa shi yin shiru yana mai sauke ajiyar xuciya mai xafin gsk,,"

Realizing he had no answers to his questions, he fell silent, letting out a truly burning sigh.

"jawo ni yayi nafada saman jikin sa ya rungume ni sosai kamar xai maidani cikin jikin sa"

He pulled me onto his chest and hugged me tightly, as if he wanted to stuff me back inside his body.

"baki na turo gaba, bafara shanyewa da halin Ya Ahmad na riga da na ajiye shi a layin yan iska"

I pushed my lips out in a pout; I had already categorized Ya Ahmad's behavior as that of a rogue.

"A hankali cikin kunne na da kinci abinci, wanda yasa ni jin wani yarrrr a jiki na,,"

Softly into my ear, he asked if I had eaten, which sent a tingling shiver all over my body.

(Note: The narrative continues following this pattern through chapters 26–30, documenting the tumultuous journey to Abuja, the confrontation with Lubna, the clashes of temperament between Nabla and Ya Ahmad, and the intense emotional friction highlighting power dynamics, jealousy, and suppressed affection).

Part 2: Summary of the Excerpt

This narrative segment of Nida Ya Ahmad centers on the escalating emotional and physical tension between the protagonist, Nabla, and her stern guardian/husband figure, Ya Ahmad.

  • The Abuja Journey & Domestic Friction: After a night of conflicting emotions where Ya Ahmad struggles with his unexplainable, intense attraction to Nabla—contrasting her with his older, sophisticated partner Lubna—he forces Nabla to prepare for a sudden private jet flight to Abuja.
  • Arrival in Abuja: Upon landing at Ya Ahmad’s Abuja compound, Nabla’s outspoken, naive, and defiant nature causes immediate chaos. She ridicules the household staff, leading to a fiery introduction with Lubna (Ya Ahmad's glamorous and fiercely possessive love interest).
  • Jealousy and Confrontations: Lubna is stunned and enraged to find Nabla in Ya Ahmad's space and close to him. Despite Ya Ahmad's attempts to dismiss Nabla as merely a "cousin" being hosted temporarily, Lubna makes it clear she will protect her territory. Meanwhile, Nabla's sharp tongue and rebellious retaliation (such as physical altercations with the house staff and clashes with Ya Ahmad) test Ya Ahmad's patience to its absolute limit, resulting in severe emotional turbulence, tears, and passionate reconciliations born of underlying, undeniable chemistry.

Part 3: Character & Setting Description

Characters

  • Nabla: The young, naive, yet fiercely defiant protagonist. Thrust into a complex dynamic with Ya Ahmad, she alternates between childlike vulnerability, tearful breakdown, and sharp, unfiltered rebellion (pouting, name-calling, physical retaliation).
  • Ya Ahmad: A powerful military/corporate figure (alluded to by meetings with colonels and private jets). He is outwardly strict, stern, and intimidating, but internally conflicted by an overwhelming, magnetic attraction to Nabla that defies his logic and challenges his relationship with Lubna.
  • Lubna: Ya Ahmad's sophisticated, stylish, and fiercely possessive partner in Abuja. She is accustomed to dominance, fiercely protective of her position, and immediately threatened by Nabla’s presence.

Settings

  • The Estate / Residence: A luxurious, modern multi-compound environment complete with private landing strips, elevators, and high-end domestic staff—highlighting a world of wealth, elite social standing, and strict domestic hierarchy.

Part 4: Literary & Thematic Analysis

1. Themes of Competing Desires and Logic vs. Emotion

A core psychological conflict in this excerpt is Ya Ahmad's internal debate between social expectation/experience (represented by Lubna) and irrational, magnetic attraction (represented by Nabla). The text frequently contrasts Lubna’s maturity and sophistication with Nabla’s youth and naivety, highlighting how human emotion often bypasses logic. Ya Ahmad cannot logically explain why an inexperienced, rebellious girl stirs deeper feelings in him than a mature woman.

2. Power Dynamics and Defiance

The relationship between Nabla and Ya Ahmad explores the classic romance trope of the authoritarian guardian/mentor versus the rebellious ward. Ya Ahmad attempts to control Nabla through intimidation, strict commands, and physical dominance, but Nabla consistently subverts this control through passive resistance, sarcastic remarks, pouting, and even physical defense (biting and scratching). This mutual stubbornness creates a volatile push-and-pull dynamic.

3. Linguistic Style and Genre Conventions

Written in Hausa Popular Literature style (often referred to as Littattafan Soyayya), the text effectively blends conversational Hausa prose with English loan phrases ("royal bed," "pepper soup," "french kiss," "private jet"). This stylistic choice bridges traditional northern Nigerian cultural storytelling with contemporary, cosmopolitan romance tropes, making the emotional stakes vivid and relatable to modern readers.
