Description

Ten minutes after Abeed’s jet landed in Canada, a driver took him directly in a luxury car. As they headed to the house, Abeed’s heart grew calm and serenity began to settle over him; the relaxed expression on his face confirmed his happiness. The driver parked at the grand entrance of the house, and a guard quickly opened the door for Abeed. He stepped out dressed in a single-breasted suit, his dark blue hair neatly styled with Ginger Geminal Oil, smooth and untamed as he hadn't even worn a ribbon. He walked slowly, half-closing his white eyes like someone feeling sleepy. As he reached the doorway, someone said, “Welcome back, Prince Abeddeen Abdul-Jabbar Abbas.” The door recognized Abeed’s footprints and opened.

As he stepped inside, his eyes landed on him sitting down, dressed in a soft, smooth white jallabiya. Abeed let out a sigh of relief as a gentle smile broke across his face. He hurried toward him, seeing which His Majesty gently stood up, opening his arms wide. As Abeed reached him, he slipped into Abba’s embrace, resting his head while letting out a hidden sigh of relief. Abba hugged Abeed, patting his back, and in a soft voice said, “You worried me, Magaji. You made me orchestrate a fake trip because of you.” Abeed held Abba tightly and said, “I am tired, I'm so tired Abbi, how long will this plan end?” His Majesty smiled, gently pulling Abeed away from his body, kissed his forehead, and said, “Soon, Magaji.” Saying this, he sat down. Abeed sat down as well, resting his head on Abba’s chest without saying anything.

Sarah was lying on the bed when Aunty Zulfa walked in holding a phone. As Sarah was about to speak, Aunty Zulfa said, “Your husband.” Thump! Sarah felt her heart skip a beat; she hated having her name associated with the word marriage. She took the phone, and Aunty Zulfa walked out. Softly, she said, “Uhm.” Yashim asked, “What are you doing?” She stayed silent, and he repeated, “You’re silent.” Frowning, she said, “I’m lying down.” He asked, “What about school?” Softly, she said, “I don’t feel like coming.” He asked, “Why?” She said, “Just like that.” With a commanding tone, he said, “Well, I said you should come.” Frowning, she said, “Why should I?” He replied, “Because I said so, I am your husband. This is an order, not a suggestion.” Having said that, he hung up the phone.

A wave of bitterness consumed Sarah; she really didn't want to go anywhere. But another voice inside her whispered, “Sarah, he is a husband to you. Your paradise is beneath his feet, the angels will be angry.” She burst into tears, crying bitterly with no one to comfort her. When she finally grew tired and stopped, she got up and walked to the bathroom, turning on the cold shower even though the weather outside was extremely cold.

When she came out, she dressed in a thick abaya with a front zipper. The dress looked very good on her, making her skin look remarkably fair. She wrapped a scarf over her hair, which had been styled at the salon, grabbed a little Charles and Keith handbag, and put on nice heels. Taking her phone, she went to the parlor where she found Aunty Zulfa and Beeba, since they had returned together. Softly, she said, “Mami, I’m going to school.” Aunty Zulfa said, “May Allah protect you, take good care of yourself Auta, and I sent you an errand.” Beeba said, “Have a safe journey, Princess.” She pouted and walked outside. She had the driver take her; as she stood, snowflakes beat against her. The driver opened the door for her, she got in, and he drove her to school.

Before they arrived, a burning fever struck Sarah. She just forced herself out of the car without saying anything to the driver and walked into the school. The shivering of her body intensified; she couldn't walk anymore, her body felt soaked in cold, and snow was still pouring down on her. She slipped, sat down on a bench, and curled up in one spot. She stayed there for a long time before she saw a car park near her. She knew it was Prince Yashim, which is why she refused to raise her head.

Slowly, he got out, staring at her, seeing how she shivered with her eyes closed, enduring in one spot. He knelt down without saying a word and picked her up completely in his arms. Even then, her eyes remained closed; she felt like screaming out of resentment for Prince Yashim carrying her like that. Khabeer opened the car door for him, and he got in. As soon as he got inside the closed car and started it, Khabeer asked, “Sir, hospital?” Slowly, he opened his eyes, pulling down the zipper of the front of his shirt to reveal his broad chest covered in smooth, trimmed hair. In a soft voice, he said, “My house.” Quickly, Sarah opened her eyes, dropping her gaze onto his perfect, solemn face. With trembling lips, she said, “Un.. Uncle.” He lowered his eyes, feeling how terribly hot her body was. Without saying a word, she slid off her rolling head-tie and scarf. Deliberately, he pulled up the zipper of her dress. Quickly, she looked at him, unable to even speak. She opened her mouth to talk, but he placed his index finger on her lips, rolling his eyes as a sign to say, “Shh.” She stared at him wide-eyed, while he gently shifted his eyes from her face and pulled her against his chest. The warmth Sarah felt made her quickly let out a sigh of relief. Slowly, he held her back, resting his head against the seat while feeling the heat of her fever radiating against his chest.

Sarah’s body shivering with fever, she broke free from Abeed’s hold. Terrified, she pulled back, catching her breath while clutching her body together, feeling a fierce cold piercing through her. Abeed opened his white eyes wide at her as if about to say something, then shrugged and looked away. Startled, Sarah raised her head, holding her aching head, and with trembling lips said, “Drop me here,” her voice shivering with fever. Abeed turned and looked at Sarah just as she was looking at him, but he couldn't read her expression or what she was feeling right now. He closed his eyes, caught his breath, and once again used his hand to pull the zipper of his shirt all the way down, fully exposing his broad chest, especially his trimmed chest hair.

Shocked, Sarah squeezed her eyes shut and said, “Innalillahi!” Shyness and fear completely filled her heart. What did this mean? Ever since that thing happened between them, she couldn't even look him in the eye. A man who took your virginity—wouldn’t shyness naturally overcome you? Terrified, she said, “Please Uncle, drop me, I don’t want to, I won’t follow you,” she finished speaking as tears streamed down her face. Abeed ignored her completely; he could hear everything she was saying, but he didn't have time to entertain her nonsense. The inner turmoil in his heart and the burden forced upon him worried him more than anything else. Deep anxiety lay heavy in his heart, but his composure and immense aura masked any sign of distress on his face.

She buried her face between her thighs and burst into tears; the matters of the world were too heavy for her—the lack of parents, the lack of someone to confide her troubles to, the lack of peace of mind. Furious, Abeed reached out and yanked her into his embrace. He couldn't speak, his eyes blazing red. Weeping, Sarah said, “Let me go, Uncle, let me go, I swear I don’t want to, you know I’m a married woman, I was married to someone else! Why do you want to lead me to hellfire? Why do you want to force upon me what I cannot endure? I swear I won’t be able to resist every single time if you continue to grow close to my heart!”

Slowly, Khabeer pulled over to the side of the road and parked the car. He opened the door and stepped out, walking a bit away to call his wife's phone...

Slowly, Abeed opened his red, drowsy eyes—tinted with the extreme madness consuming his soul. With a burning heart, he gripped her shoulder, his eyes shifting onto her face, and said, “Shut up, Sarahh Salman!!!!!!! Silence,” he said, shoving her to the side. She stared at him, feeling her fever intensifying beyond before. With a trembling voice, she said, “I am not well, Uncle. If my heart burns so much that I die right now, I’d be happier than anyone. No one is with me, no one,” she finished her speech and burst into fresh tears. Even Abeed, as a man, could barely endure the situation. In a soft voice, refusing to let his weakness show, he cupped her chin with his hands and calmly said, “Do you want the man Mami chose for you? Tell me the truth, if you don't love the husband you are married to...”

Sarah only cried, turning her face away. Abeed adjusted his seating position properly. When Sarah refused to look at him, he lowered his voice and said, “Look at me, Sarahh..” She turned her face away even more, not wanting anything to bring her closer to him, still unable to understand her own feelings toward him. He grabbed her hand, and as if waiting for that, she started crying harder. Gently, he placed her head on his shoulder, patting her back to try to calm her down. For the first time, he opened his mouth and said, “Please bear with me, I have no choice.”

She felt as though he had added more weight to her heavy heart, and she wept even more. Softly, he lowered her head against the side of his chest and said, “I will leave the country within this week. Tell me if you don't like the husband you have, I promise I will make you happy.”

She lifted her head, and before their eyes could meet, he quickly averted his gaze. Slowly, she slipped her head away from his body, closed her eyes, and said, “I will stay with him for the rest of my breath, if that will bring Mami happiness and is the way I can show her respect, and...” She couldn't finish speaking because of the nausea rising within her. Quickly, she covered her mouth, shaking her head and signaling him to open the door. He just stared at her, opening his eyes gently, and reached out to open the door. He stepped out, pulling up the zipper of his shirt.

Quickly, Sarah rushed out to the roadside and began vomiting, her entire body shaking. Slowly, he walked over to where she was, knelt down, and held her. She couldn't move because her body had lost all strength and she was about to collapse; Abeed quickly caught her into his embrace. With a calm and gentle voice, he opened his mouth and said, “Beeerrr.”

Khabeer, standing some distance away, heard Sir Abeed calling him and rushed over. Seeing the condition Sarah was in, Khabeer said, “Subuhanallahi!” He quickly turned back to the car, grabbed a water bottle, and hurried back. Respectfully, he handed the water to Abeed. Abeed unscrewed the cap, poured water into his palm, and gently washed her face thoroughly before offering her water to drink. She took it and rinsed her mouth without even opening her eyes. He picked her up entirely and carried her to the car, saying quietly, “Drive faster...” He said this while settling Sarah against his chest, his face completely devoid of smiles. In a low voice, he instructed, “Switch up the A.C.” Khabeer turned off the A.C. and asked, “Sir, where to?” He replied, “My house.” Khabeer drove fast, and shortly after, they arrived at Abeddeen’s luxury mansion...

He took Sarah to his bedroom and laid her on the bed. He stepped out for about 20 minutes, by which time sleep had already claimed Sarah. He quietly opened the door and walked back in, having changed into casual clothes. Dr. Adyan, who was right behind him, said, “Honestly, you have burdened me with a sin; I almost crashed my car because of your madness.”

Abeed frowned without saying a word. Dr. Adyan cast a single glance at Sarah’s face, then turned to Abeed and said, “Since eating food doesn't matter to you, you didn't even check on her health or care whether she ate or not.” Abeed sat quietly on the edge of the bed where he had covered Sarah with a duvet, not even looking in Dr. Adyan’s direction.

The doctor began his checkup. When he finished, he looked at Abeed and said, “Typhoid and ulcers are bothering her. She is not eating food, and there is worry in her heart.... And the ground is not safe for her, ever since she was a little girl.” Dr. Adyan gave her an injection, then headed for the door. Walking slowly, Abeed followed him with his hands buried in his pockets.

When they reached the entrance, Dr. Adyan looked at Abeed and said, “You agree to be a lamb for her love? In your eyes, she became someone's wife. You surprised me, I didn't think that you were so deep inside.” Abeed turned his face away, his eyes locking onto Danish who was walking in, and calmly said, “Something is over, does it mean your life is over...?” Angrily, Dr. Adyan said, “Loser...” Saying this, he got into his car, fully knowing that Abeed hated nothing more than being perceived as having failed or being called a loser. Abeed’s eyes half-closed as he took the documents from Danish’s hand and signed them.

Slowly, Sarah opened her eyes, feeling the fever subsiding, though her body remained extremely weak. She quickly got up, grabbed her handbag, put on her shoes, and covered her head. At that moment, Abeed was in the garden having an extremely important conversation. She hurried out toward the exit, her body still shaking by the time she reached the gate. The gatekeeper looked at her, and seeing her furious expression—as if she might slap him—prompted him to open the gate for her. After all, he had never seen her before. Had Sir started dealing with women?

A few minutes after Sarah left, the gatekeeper heard a knock at the gate. He peeked slowly, unable to make out anyone’s face, but for sure it was a woman. He opened the gate. From top to bottom, the gatekeeper stared at her as she frowned and asked, “Is Sir Abeed around?” The gatekeeper asked, “Who are you?” Nusy said, “He gave me an appointment, and today is the day.” He nodded and made way for her to enter. Nusy let out a hidden sigh of relief, taking in Abeed’s luxury mansion with her eyes. Only now did she fully realize that Abeed was exceedingly wealthy—a billionaire. She walked straight in, but the parlor was empty for now...

Sarah walked fast, her eyes filled with tears, unable to see clearly ahead of her. A black car suddenly sped toward her, making Sarah stop dead in her tracks. She wondered who or what this was—could it be Prince Yashim? Before the black car could reach Sarah, an ash-colored car pulled up right where she stood. Sarah backed away in fear, seeing two cars at the same time. Before she could move, Liman stepped out of the car, grabbed Sarah’s hand tightly, and said, “Close the door.” Sarah closed the door, and Liman rushed to the driver’s side, speeding off rapidly. Though he lacked physical strength due to old age, one look at the people told him they meant no good.

Seeing Liman speed away with Sarah, the men chased after them quickly, but they lost sight of Liman’s car. By the time Liman brought Sarah to Aunty Zulfa’s doorstep, Sarah was in shock over what was happening and unable to comprehend it. As they parked, Prince Yashim arrived at the house. Slowly, Yaa Yashim opened his car door and stepped out, his eyes locking onto Sarah and Liman. A smile crossed his face as he stepped forward to shake hands with Liman. They held hands for a long time before Yaa Yashim asked, “Liman, I hope all is well?” Liman said, “Everything is fine. I saw her on the road looking unwell, but she needs to be taken care of properly, and if possible, she should stop going out.” Yaa Yashim nodded and said, “In sha Allah. Thank you. Fasting is approaching, and I want to give out my Zakat.” Liman sighed, his face covered as usual, and said, “Come to the mosque later. Right now, my wife says she’s unwell, we are heading to the hospital.” Yaa Yashim said, “Ayyah, may Allah grant her healing.”

They exchanged farewells. As Yaa Yashim turned to speak to Sarah, he saw that she had already left the spot. He half-closed his eyes, not quite knowing what was bringing him joy, but he made up his mind: even if Sarah did not love him, he would not divorce her, and no one dared untie the matrimonial knots binding her to him. Without entering the house, he turned and drove away entirely.

The Kingdom of Zahel

King Mabus stood before Subash, who was tied up with ropes and being whipped, his entire body covered in wounds. For the second time, King Mabus asked, “Will you return to the religion of Abar Bauta Kabas or what?” Suffering and bleeding from the mouth, Subash said, “Lillahi Wahidul Qahr” (To Allah, the One and Irresistible). King Mabus looked at the sorcerer and asked, “What did he say?” The sorcerer replied, “He called upon the name of Allah and His Messenger.” Furious, King Mabus said, “Then you will not return to the religion of Zahel and Abar Bauta Kabas?” Subash said, “In sha Allah, I will die upon the religion of Islam.” A bitter smile crossed King Mabus’s face before he said, “Take him down to the floor. Abar Bauta Kabas, forgive me, for the first time I am going to kill my own son.” Saying this, he stepped on Subash’s neck and grabbed his throat to slaughter him.

Terrified, Subash chanted, “La’ilaha illallahu Muhammadur Rasulullah S.A.W.” Before King Mabus could slit Subash’s throat, Ayyana arrived for the first time in her life and said, “King Mabus...” Quickly, King Mabus looked at Ayyana, and with delight said, “Ayyana, today you are the one calling my name?” She smiled at him before saying, “Why shouldn't I call your name? I accept your love for me.” King Mabus let out a roar of triumph and said, “I am King Mabus the powerful, King of kings of the southern continent, the king wealthier and more powerful than any other.” He said this while taking the hand of Ayyana, whose face was veiled, and she gently led him to her chambers, saying, “Our goal is almost complete. All the wealth he has accumulated will become ours. He has provided an easy way; whoever adds to the money he previously gave will take a huge share.” King Mabus stared at Ayyana before saying, “How much more should we add now? My only desire right now is to see the girl who ruined my country brought here.” Ayyana hesitated before saying, “We will add 500.10m.”

Zain stepped out of his quarters with Du’a right behind him. Quickly, Naila said, “Look at this witch, right? Honestly, if you follow a husband around like that in Lagos, nothing will stop people from calling you a prostitute.” Du’a frowned, turned around angrily (fuuu), and went back inside. Naila raised her voice and said, “Oh well!” She looked at Zain, then burst into fake tears and said, “I swear she pities me. The girl has huge hips, but she refuses to get pregnant or even accept a pregnancy.” Zain ignored her, and she quickly asked, “Where are you going again?” He looked at Naila and said, “Did you keep something in my trust?” She beamed and said, “Oh-oh, go screw yourself, I’m not a cheap old woman honestly, I’m just going to the market.” Zain smirked and said, “I have a meeting with the head of the Fikira board, take the driver.” Saying this, he headed for his car. Naila muttered under her breath and said, “Look at this fool, I did it on purpose anyway, I insulted his wife to her face and mocked her barrenness. If he has any pride, tomorrow he’ll knock her up with triplets.”

After one minute—ever since that day—Sarah had not set eyes on Abeed again. She only heard through Beeba that he was unwell and had been flown abroad. She sat in a beautiful long milk-colored dress, holding her phone, having grown extremely thin. She went to sleep every night thinking about her marriage to Yaa Yashim; she couldn't even eat food and had reached a point where she didn't even want to see him.

Beeba looked at Auta and said, “You are too sluggish, honestly, we are leaving.” Auta said, “I’m already dressed.” Beeba looked at Sarah and said, “Get up, let’s go.” Gently, Sarah stood up and headed for the door, walking right into him. She quickly stepped back, and their eyes locked. He stood there in a black voyel fabric featuring large patterns, his untamed hair falling all the way down his back. The scent of Hugo Boss hit her nostrils. She lowered her gaze; he took one single glance at her, averted his eyes, and walked straight into Aunty Zulfa’s parlor.

Sarah hurried outside, clutching her chest as tears threatened to spill. Softly, Beeba and Auta greeted him, but he didn't look at either of them. They got into the car, and Sarah covered her face and burst into bitter tears.

Gently, Abeed sat down. Aunty Zulfa asked, “And you, what is the reason for this severe weight loss? Is it your health?” He remained silent, his head bowed. She stared closer at how much weight he had lost and said, “Well, may Allah improve things.”

Softly, Beeba started driving, and the gatekeeper opened the gate for them. As soon as they drove out of the neighborhood, another car sped right in front of them, blocking their path. Beeba slammed on the brakes, staring at the car in shock. About five men stepped out of the vehicle and headed straight for Sarah’s car. Auta said, “Beeba, they are coming toward us, reverse the car!” Beeba said, “For what? When we are right near home?”

The men headed straight for the back seat where Sarah was sitting. Sarah’s eyes widened in horror before Beeba could lock the doors. One of the men opened the car door and tried to grab Sarah, when suddenly the sound of gunfire echoed from all directions! The man quickly jumped back, shouting, “Adam, gun!” Adam tossed him a gun, and a shootout began right there. Sarah was completely paralyzed; she didn't even know who was shooting whom. She pushed the door open and stepped out just as Abeed walked out of Aunty Zulfa’s house. Adam aimed his gun at Sarah, but Liman—who was standing nearby—quickly shoved Sarah out of the way. Terrified, Sarah tried to grab Liman but failed, instead clutching the head-scarf (hirami) covering his face until it completely unwrapped from his face without him realizing it.

Loudly, Sarah cried out, “Daddy!!!!!” Liman turned around upon hearing Sarah call him “Daddy,” and at that moment, he rubbed his face and felt no scarf. He stared directly into Sarah’s face. Before he turned to pull her away, Adam lunged toward Abeed with a gun.

Loudly, Daddy shouted, “D.S.P Yashim, turn your back...” Prince Yashim, who was standing with a gun, quickly shoved Abeed aside and fired his gun at Adam—boom!

2. Summary

Set against a backdrop of hidden identities, family pressure, and intense emotional conflict, the story follows Sarah Salman, a young woman unhappily married off to Prince Yashim against her will, while carrying deep, complicated feelings for Prince Abeddeen Abdul-Jabbar Abbas (Abeed). Abeed, a powerful billionaire facing his own political and personal burdens in Canada and back home, shares a deeply forbidden and passionate connection with Sarah. Their paths cross in intense, dramatic episodes marked by Sarah's sudden illnesses, emotional breakdowns, and family interventions.

Parallel to this romance is a sinister political plot in the Kingdom of Zahel, where the cruel King Mabus and the mysterious Ayyana torture and persecute believers like Subash. Back in the modern setting, family drama involving Aunty Zulfa, Naila, and Beeba surrounds Sarah, culminating in a dangerous ambush outside. During the chaos of a sudden shootout, Sarah’s veil is ripped off, and she discovers a shocking truth: Liman, the humble man she knows, is somehow connected to her past or identity, leading to a dramatic intervention by Yashim and Abeed.

  • Tone: High-stakes, melodramatic, tense, and emotionally heavy, driven by themes of forced marriage, forbidden love, illness, and sudden violence.
  • Character Dynamics: Marked by power imbalances, emotional repression (Abeed hiding his pain behind a stern facade), and high-tension physical proximity leading to vulnerability.

5. Comments

  • The narrative weaves together contemporary romance tropes (billionaire, forbidden love, forced marriage) with elements of magical/fantasy political intrigue (the Kingdom of Zahel subplot), creating a uniquely multi-layered story.
  • The emotional vulnerability of Sarah contrasts sharply with the stoic, high-powered aura of Abeed, amplifying the dramatic tension.
